I am looking to the week ahead with great anticipation as Mike and I prepare to come out to Tennessee to meet new business associates and friends.
So much has happened in a short period of time to lead up to this new chapter in our lives. It has served us well throughout our 25+ years of marriage to apply a few fundamentals of decision making that have rarely served us wrong, and I share them to illustrate why I am confident DuVita is the right choice for us.
1) Evaluating Circumstances: In the Sound of Music when Maria says; “when God closes a door He opens a window” it might sound cliche, but when we hit walls in life and cease to feel we are in the right place, it is time to look for the open window to confirm our intuition.
2) Consult Respected Mentors: Throughout life we meet many people, and every so often we come into contact with people we can trust, whose counsel proves honorable and wise. Cultivating these precious relationships is key - not only for personal development, but as these resources (mentors and accountability partners) are priceless.
3) Honor Values: Each of us has standards by which we live, priorities we set, character we wish to exemplify. Our core value system should be established with lines drawn that aren’t be crossed when making choices, or we can be put into situations where we aren't true to ourselves, nor will we find contentment and fulfill our potential.
4) Inner Peace: This is the goal, to make decisions with no regrets, ones that when we make them give us a feeling of rest; knowledge that we have done the right thing. It is the golden ring of the decision making process!
In making the decision to start this new adventure, we have followed our personal process. The circumstances were laid out so clearly, a door closed from my perception, a window opened wide. People I respect both personally and professionally confirmed the open window was a great fit for me, and an intelligent opportunity. The mission, heart and values of our new partners align with those of my family’s. And lastly, the coveted peace and inner confidence of a right decision is within me. I am eager to begin this journey, to be a part of something bigger than myself, to find significance and joy in my work so that “I will never work another day…”
